A Meditation for the Tuesday After Easter 2

ALMIGHTY God, who hast given thine only Son to be unto us both a sacrifice for sin, and also an ensample of godly life; Give us grace that we may always most thankfully receive that his inestimable benefit, and also daily endeavour ourselves to follow the blessed steps of his most holy life; through the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. ~ Collect for the Second Sunday after Easter

The collect for this week calls us to remember both the sacrifice Christ made for us and the example of how to live our life that he lived out. Christ lived the perfect human life, despite experience temptation, sorrow, heartache, and even what may have seemed to be a failure. We see him saddened, hurt, and even angry, even in this he lived perfectly.

So though we are going to stumble, fall, and fail, we are called to new life, and living righteously. It is easy, consciously or subconsciously, to think that Christ lived perfectly, why do I have to?

While you may fail to live an entirely righteous life, we are still called to learn to dwell in the Holy Spirit and to allow him to perfect our life. We are called to strive for righteousness.

Let us remember Christ’s example for us and let our hearts and minds be transformed by Him.
