2nd Sunday after Easter – Thursday Meditation

Our Psalm for today gives us words of encouragement. Often when we struggle or are having a hard time we think of the exhortation to be joyful always, and it feels too hard. How can we give thanks when things seem impossibly difficult?

The Psalm is a song of praise but stuck in the middle of it is a reminder that the Lord may very well bring us low. Not as some vindictive punishment or trial, but to build our faith.

While it may be difficult to remember this, when hard times come upon our door, it is an opportunity to learn a greater and deeper dependency upon the Lord. Though it may seem like trudging through mud, take heart, it is a race worth running to learn a great joy than we once had.
